In the past 100 years more than half of the world`s rainforest has been destroyed. Many plants and animals face extinction as a result. Seas are polluted, air is unclean and, while the human races continues to multiply, species are being lost forever. Nature is a finely balance web. When a species disappears we all feel the consequences.
At Mediterraneo Marine Park, we have a programme that enables children of a variety of ages, to come to our Park and expand on their knowledge of animals, and the threat of extinction. Apart from gaining knowledge of foreign species, an important part of our program is to educate people about species that are indigenous to Malta especially focusing on Maltese wildlife and factors that threaten it.
We educate them on each individual species by close direct contact using visual aid aswell as oral.
Such experience are very stimulating and will foster a respect for the animals, which result in the studants being more sensitive to environmental problems and to the importance of conservation. We invite you to enjoy the wonderfull diversity of these creatures that share the planet with us – remenber, it is their world too!
